Do I have to take all my clothes off?
No, not at all! A body massage is intended for your enjoyment and relaxation, not to make you feel uncomfortable. Most people undress to their underwear but loose fitting shorts are also acceptable, although please remember that some oils may stain clothes. Whichever you decide the therapist will always leave the room as you undress giving you time to place towels over yourself. These towels are then used in a process called draping, which means only the area being worked on will be exposed. For instance only one leg at a time. This also ensures you will stay warm throughout the massage.
What do I do during a massage session?
Relax! The cream leather massage couch you will receive your treatment on is designed especially with your comfort in mind. Providing clients with an arm sling and adjustable face hole there's nothing left to do but unwind. Some clients prefer to lie quietly, while others prefer to talk to their therapist and some even fall asleep. It's up to you. It's your massage and whatever feels more natural to you will be the best way to relax. Please ask questions at any time.
How long will a massage treatment last?
A full body massage will take one hour. However ten minutes before the massage is needed to fill out forms, discuss health issues or concerns with your therapist and undress. A further fifteen minutes will be required afterwards to allow yourself time to wake and get dressed slowly as often the therapist will leave you to relax for a few moments at the end of the massage. There are a selection of shorter thirty minute massages that can be found on the 'price list' page of this website.
Is massage always appropriate?
No. Unfortunately there are some medical conditions that can be made worse by a body massage. This is why it is very important that you answer the questions concerning your medical history thoroughly. If you are under a doctor's care it is advised that you seek a written doctor's recommendation for massage prior to your session. Should you be suffering any of these conditions your therapist will require a copy of this letter before beginning a treatment. Please don't hesitate to contact you therapist if unsure.
